A global brainstorm to solve a local challenge

As part of their master plan, the City of Perth is currently considering turning Heirisson Island, in the middle of the Swan River, into a landmark sculpture park.

One of their key challenges is to develop an iconic bridge that makes a significant statement for the city.

GHD ran a competition to come up with a series of cutting-edge bridge designs. With input from our people, the project went above and beyond the traditional method of holding a national competition.

To kick off the project, a half-day brainstorming session involving over 90 of GHD’s people was held. The session resulted in the walls of the room being plastered with hundreds of ideas. The project, which ran for a month, utilised GHD’s technology, The Zone, to facilitate global collaboration on the bridge designs.

GHD has short-listed several of the concepts and presented these to the City of Perth for consideration.
