Highbrook Business Infrastructure Park

Highbrook Business Park in New Zealand is nearing completion after a twelve-year involvement by GHD.

GHD was part of a team of international designers who developed the concept for the 190ha Highbrook Business Park, adjacent to Auckland’s Southern Motorway. Highbrook Business Park has attracted tenants from a wide range of businesses and will eventually accommodate up to 12,000 employees in 550,000sq m of industrial and commercial floor space.

GHD planners, land development engineers and project engineers have been responsible for preparing resource consent applications and detailed civil engineering designs for the overall roading and infrastructure. They have also been responsible for obtaining resource consents and preparing site-specific civil engineering designs for the individual buildings that have been constructed within the Park.

In addition to the Park development, GHD was engaged to design and observe the construction of the Southern Motorway/Waiouru interchange that links to the Park, and conducted extensive consultation with the wider and local Maori community to preserve nearly 30 archaeological sites.

The project received the ‘Analysis & Planning’ Honour Award from the American Society of Landscape Architects at the Society's 2003 professional awards event.

Resources & Industrial Facilities

image

In the industrial world, it is not enough to design facilities that are visually pleasing. First, industrial facilities must be functional. That is why GHD integrates architecture, process, and building design and engineering. This teaming assists in coordinating the crucial interfaces between the process equipment, the building layout, the structure and the building services to accommodate plant installations, building fabric and operational efficiencies.

We work with clients to maximise quality outcomes (on time and on budget), decrease lost production time, increase capacity to meet operational objectives, and take into account user and community needs. GHD has worked on building or upgrading facilities or operational plant and workshops in manufacturing, vehicle parking and servicing, stores, warehouses, cool stores, distribution, food, pharmaceuticals, production lines, petroleum and gas production, laboratories, abattoirs and commercial laundries. We can also assist with industry land use planning, and industrial parks and free zones.

Transportation

image

Economic and population growth, greater urbanisation and increased mobility are boosting demand for new infrastructure and straining the capacity and effectiveness of existing infrastructure. Single mode approaches are no longer viable as governments and stakeholders recognise the need for multi-modal solutions across the whole supply chain.

Across the whole transport spectrum of aviation, marine, roads and highways, rail and transportation and logistics, our team provides integrated transport services throughout the project lifecycle from initial policy, transport economics and business case advice, through concept, procurement, detailed design and construction to operations, maintenance and asset management.
