Unites expertise in architecture and design and reinforces strength for US Federal projects.

GHD announces the acquisition of RIM Architects, enhancing its architectural capabilities in the US and supporting its strategic vision for growth. The partnership is built on shared values and a common vision for a sustainable future.

GHD, a global professional services company operating in the markets of water, energy and resources, environment, property and buildings, and transportation, announced today that it has acquired RIM Architects (RIM) and its subsidiary companies, effective July 8, 2024.

GHD and RIM have enjoyed a long-standing partnership for over three decades, working together on various projects in the western US. The two companies share a strong alignment in their core values and culture, and their dedication to technical excellence and service to clients and communities. The acquisition significantly enhances GHD’s architectural capabilities in the US and supports its strategic vision for growth, particularly in the US Federal sector in the Pacific Region.

Sri Sadasivan, General Manager for GHD US West, remarked “RIM's extensive experience, especially within the US Federal sector, is a valuable addition to our portfolio and will be instrumental in achieving our ambitious growth objectives. RIM provides GHD with strong leadership to grow our design studio and architectural practice in the US. Our long-standing partnership with RIM is built on shared values and a common vision for a sustainable future. This strong foundation sets the stage for a seamless integration and positions us for accelerated growth in key markets.”

RIM has a 38-year history of providing design services across the US West and Pacific regions and has a diverse portfolio of work in federal, public and private sectors, with extensive experience in US Federal and Department of Defense projects.

RIM will operate under the transitional brand “RIM | A GHD Company.” In the coming months, it will transition to the GHD Design brand, which serves as GHD's global architectural brand umbrella.

David McVeigh, GHD Design Studio Director and former RIM CEO said, “Our business revolves around our people. Years of collaboration have shown that our organizations’ cultures, aspirations and visions align. This union allows us to integrate the best of both firms while delivering differentiated solutions to our clients.”

Founded in Anchorage, Alaska, RIM has more than 75 employees across offices in Alaska, California, Hawaii, Guam, Idaho, Washington, DC and Florida. The firm’s expertise spans various sectors including entertainment, hospitality, healthcare, and government facilities.

"For 38 years, RIM Architects has been committed to excellence and innovation in design. Joining GHD is a natural next step that honors our legacy while opening exciting new opportunities. I'm confident this partnership will amplify our impact and bring even greater value to our partners, employees, clients and communities,” said Larry Cash, Founder of RIM Architects.
