Radix Nutrition's factory and office fusion

Radix’s goal was to create a new building that reflected its reputation and brand as a leading provider of innovative sports nutrition products. As a manufacturer of high-performance dried foods for athletes and sporting organisations, Radix required a modern office space, presentation area and test kitchen for showcasing products to clients.
The challenge
Radix demonstrated the importance of wanting to provide its employees with dedicated collaborative and quiet spaces to relax and recharge amidst the fast-paced, high-stress environment of the factory floor. The creation of these areas was a paramount consideration during the design process, with a focus on clear segregation between the factory and office spaces and chill zones upstairs. This demonstrates Radix’s commitment to the wellbeing of its staff and a dedication to promoting a welcoming, contemporary and sustainable work environment.
Our response
We explored a contemporary approach to the design of Radix’s new double-storied, 2,995m2 building. This involved creating an open plan office with an interconnecting stairway, integrating plants, using high-impact interior graphics, incorporating product displays and enhancing the test kitchen area.
Through thoughtful intervention, the industrial shell building was transformed into a functional space that effectively showcases Radix’s work, complete with industrial facilities, an office space and a test kitchen and presentation area for demonstrating their high-performance food products to clients. A large factory warehouse was incorporated to house food processing and manufacturing equipment, with transparent panels allowing natural light to filter in, creating a pleasant working environment for staff while also reducing lighting and maintenance costs.
The office, test kitchen and display area seamlessly connect with the factory, with careful placement of interlinking doors and airlocks to mitigate noise and movement.
The space is bright and contemporary, with integrated planting, high-impact interior graphics, various meeting and breakout rooms and an interconnecting stairway. The exterior features glazing and timber-look cladding, creating a commercial look while presenting a high-quality façade to the streetscape.

Overall, the result is a stunning, cohesive space that effectively showcases Radix’s brand and products.
