At a glance

Sydney Trains move to an agile working environment enhanced collaboration, communication and the delivery of effective and efficient services.

The challenge
To move from traditional office accommodation to agile working was part of the strategy to decentralise from the CBD.
Our response

A mix of sizes and configurations of workpoints, allow staff to choose to work in a singular or focused zone or a more collaborative group zone. Support spaces adjacent to the primary work points, comprise open, semi-enclosed and enclosed collaborative spaces, quiet nooks, focus rooms and a mix of meeting rooms and spaces equipped with collaborative audio-visual functionality. Colour was used to assist wayfinding and place making.

Staff consultation, facilitated by change managers, informed the mix of facilities in each neighbourhood across the 13,700m2 building so that spaces suit future ways of working.

Large plaza areas, with dynamic feature ceilings, are located near major entry points to the floors and provide the opportunity for large ‘town hall’ style staff presentations.

The impact

This project become the benchmark for both Sydney Trains and Transport for NSW’s future workplaces.
