Next steps announced for Canada’s Northern Shield Energy Corridor
On July 6, the governments of Ontario, Alberta and Saskatchewan announced a proposed route for the Northern Shield Energy Corridor, setting a clear direction for the project designed to strengthen national energy security and connect supply to key markets.
“With a proposed route now defined, there is a clearer path to understanding how this corridor can be delivered across Canada,” said Steve Lécuyer, GHD’s Executive General Manager for Canada. “Our role is to bring that clarity to provincial governments, combining technical insight with a national perspective so they can see how the system will perform, how it will integrate with existing infrastructure and what it will take to deliver long-term value.”
Working together with AtkinsRéalis Group Inc., Ernst & Young LLP (EY Canada), Mokwateh, Turner & Townsend Limited and Wood, GHD will now proceed to estimate costs and examine commercial models and related development opportunities for the energy corridor.
Lécuyer added: “We are grateful to the governments of Ontario, Alberta, and Saskatchewan for placing their trust in us to be part of this generational opportunity.”
