With extensive experience in market and operational leadership, Nina is poised to make a significant impact as we deliver exceptional client experiences and accelerate growth across geographies and sectors. We sat down with Nina to learn more about her background, vision and the value she brings to GHD.

Your background spans a diverse range of experiences and leadership roles. How has your career journey prepared you for your new position at GHD? 

Throughout my career, collaborating closely with clients across various markets and disciplines has given me a deep understanding of the complex challenges they face and the importance of tailoring our approach to meet their needs. 

I've learned that exceptional client experience is about more than just technical expertise – it’s about building trust, anticipating needs and bringing together diverse perspectives to deliver integrated solutions.

In my previous roles, I've seen firsthand the transformative impact of this approach. For example, when working with a large government agency on a complex infrastructure project, we brought together experts from different disciplines — from engineers to data scientists to strategic advisors — to develop an innovative solution that not only met the technical requirements but also delivered significant cost savings and operational efficiencies. By taking the time to understand the client's broader goals and challenges, we were able to create value far beyond the initial scope of work. 

These experiences have shaped my client-centric approach, and I'm excited to bring this perspective to GHD. By fostering a culture of curiosity, collaboration and client focus, we can elevate the value we bring to every client relationship and become a strategic partner invested in their long-term success. 

What are the biggest challenges that you see our clients facing? 

Complexity is the overarching challenge. Clients are grappling with issues like supply chain disruptions, climate change, digitization, cybersecurity and the energy transition – and these issues are all interconnected. Problems can no longer be solved by a single discipline; they require multifaceted, multidisciplinary approaches. Clients may view their challenges through a narrow lens, but it's our job to help them see the bigger picture and to assemble the right mix of expertise from across GHD to deliver comprehensive solutions that address the full scope of their objectives. 

Can you share your approach or philosophy when it comes to fostering positive client interactions and nurturing long-term partnerships? 

Fundamentally, it is the golden rule – treat others as you wish to be treated. Building exceptional client relationships starts with treating clients as valuable members of our extended team. It's about fostering open, honest and respectful communication that goes beyond mere transactional interactions. By taking the time to understand each client's unique preferences, work styles and expectations, we can tailor our approach to create a more personalized and engaging experience. 

It's also important that we are confident in who we are and what we bring to the table. When we exude that confidence, it resonates with clients and serves as the bedrock for building enduring, mutually beneficial partnerships that stand the test of time. 

As you facilitate the uptake of our global client experience strategy and Key Client Program within North America, what are some of the key challenges you anticipate, and how do you plan to overcome them? 

Delivering a truly exceptional client experience is no easy feat — it requires unwavering commitment, consistent effort and a genuine desire to go above and beyond. The challenge lies in doing this not just once, but repeatedly, across every interaction and touchpoint. It's about creating a level of service and partnership that is so remarkable, so valuable, that clients can't imagine working with anyone else. 

This is where our Key Client Program comes into play. It's a powerful embodiment of our client-centric philosophy and our dedication to building deep, impactful partnerships that drive meaningful change and deliver lasting results. Through this program, we demonstrate that our focus is not merely on short-term revenue or transactional projects, but on understanding our clients' most pressing challenges, their long-term goals, and their definition of success. 

We bring together the right mix of expertise, innovation and strategic thinking to tackle their complex problems head-on. Whether it's optimizing operations, navigating digital transformation or developing sustainable solutions, we collaborate closely with our clients every step of the journey. 

With your focus on accelerating growth potential across various geographies and market sectors, what excites you most about the opportunities within the U.S. Federal space, and how do you plan to leverage GHD's strengths to capitalize on those opportunities?

What truly energizes me about GHD is our strategic agility and laser-sharp focus. We recognize that true excellence comes not from trying to be all things to all people, but from making deliberate choices about where and how we can create the greatest impact. It's about carefully selecting the clients, geographies and challenges that align with our strengths and passions. In the U.S. Federal space and beyond, we're zeroing in on areas like decarbonization, asset optimization and adaptive planning and seeking out clients who are committed to real transformation. We're also leveraging our expertise to deliver strategic infrastructure projects that enhance the security and prosperity of the U.S. and its allies, such as resilient energy grids, fortified military installations and advanced transportation networks. By aligning our strengths with the right opportunities, we can create powerful synergies that propel us forward.
