In this opinion article, GHD’s Steve Scott, EMEA’s Future Communities Leader, emphasises the importance of a people-first approach in implementing the UK’s newly unveiled Integrated National Transport Strategy. Drawing on insights from GHD’s CROSSROADS research, Steve highlights the need for long-term investment to create accessible, affordable, and safe public-transport systems. According to the research, 72 per cent of UK respondents would use public transport more frequently if it were easier and more reliable, underscoring the pressing demand for improvements.
