The challenge
Brisbane City Hall 5
Provide heritage advisory services to restore City Hall, one of Queensland’s most significant heritage and cultural icons, treasured by the public as an events venue and place to explore and be immersed in Brisbane’s history.

Working closely with our clients and stakeholders was fundamental to balancing the project’s many objectives and aspirations alongside the development of a range of cost-effective solutions.

Our response
Brisbane City Hall 6
Most of the restoration effort was devoted to sympathetically refurbishing and upgrading the interior. We focused on environmentally sustainable design and aligning the spaces with modern accessibility requirements while paying homage to the rich heritage context. The integrity of building’s original fabric, built between 1920 and 1930, was left intact with minimal upgrades required.
The impact

One of the city’s most notable examples of classic revival architecture has been preserved, elevating the city’s cultural and tourism landscape, and providing an enhanced visitor experience for generations to come.
