Since then, there have been major advances in understanding the behaviour of LNAPL, and many technical guidance documents are now being updated accordingly to reflect the significant shift in best practice towards more effective and sustainable site management strategies. A greater emphasis on sustainability is also prompting more considered decision-making about whether LNAPL recovery is beneficial or justified.
