Appointed global CEO in April 2024, Jim previously led GHD’s Americas region, including Canada, USA and Chile over the past four years. Having joined the company as a graduate chemical engineer over 30 years ago, Jim has held various leadership and project roles in Australia, Asia, Canada and the United States.

“At a time of major geopolitical, economic and climate challenges and rapid technological change, it's understandable that we may feel uncertainty when we look towards the future,” Jim says in the video.

Jim is passionate about sustainability, diversity, equity and inclusion, and strategic growth, partnering and collaborating to deliver positive outcomes for clients, communities, employees and GHD’s employee-owners.

He has multidisciplinary project leadership and delivery experience in water, transport and complex environmental projects. Jim is a Chartered Professional Engineer, Fellow of Engineers Australia and a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and has completed the Advanced Management Program at Harvard Business School.

Hello, I'm Jim Giannopoulos. As the new global CEO of GHD I would like to thank you for your continued support and take a few moments to introduce myself. I joined GHD as a graduate engineer in Melbourne, Australia. In my 30 plus year career at GHD, I've had the privilege of working on projects and leadership positions with great people in many different markets and locations including the United States, Southeast Asia and Australia. Most recently, I was based in Canada with the responsibility for leading GHD’s Americas business. Every time I move with GHD, I learn more about the clients and communities we serve. I'm excited by the diversity in skills and experience we offer, and the opportunities where we can make a lasting impact. My parents migrated to Australia from Greece in the early 1960s, seeking a better life. They instilled the value of learning and a deep sense of responsibility to make a difference. These are the values that continue to drive me today. At a time of major geopolitical, economic and climate challenges and rapid technological change, it's understandable that we may feel uncertainty when we look towards the future. GHD is here and is committed to stand shoulder to shoulder with you.
