As part of the Southeast Regional Architect-Engineering (SERAE), Architect-Engineer (A-E) Services IDIQ, the TranSystems/GHD Joint Venture team is proud to have been awarded the feasibility study where the team will evaluate alternatives for solid rocket motor delivery to the Rotation, Processing, and Surge Facility (RPSF) at Kennedy Space Center.

The TranSystems/GHD JV team has specifically been tasked with evaluating five options for the safe transfer of solid rocket motor segments to the Rotation, Processing, & Surge Facility  (RPSF) from the Jay Jay Bridge at Kennedy Space Center. The team’s evaluation approach for the aging bridge will be performed through a series of steps starting with gathering available data, revalidating existing estimates where available, and incorporating new information from inspection reports.

The TranSystems/GHD JV team brings a 37-year history with planning, design, and inspection for Kennedy Space Center’s railway and bridges, including previous inspections of the Jay Jay Bridge. This extensive intermodal planning and design experience coupled with Kennedy Space Center railway knowledge and several similar projects in the firms’ qualifications will enable the JV team to effectively deliver a feasibility study for a long-term, economical, and viable routing option for delivery of solid rocket motor segments to the Rotation, Processing, and Surge Facility.

TranSystems will lead the project overseeing overall contract management and QA/QC. They will also provide project management, intermodal transportation planning and engineering, structural engineering, site civil engineering, and stakeholder coordination. As JV partner, GHD will perform environmental, geotechnical, coastal, and marine structural engineering aspects of the project.
