GHD's environmental and building practice welcomes operations manager for New Zealand/Pacific
Mark Burke-Damaschke has joined GHD's New Zealand/Pacific business to transition into the role of Operations Manager - Environment and Buildings following Andy Roy taking up other opportunities within GHD at the end of the year.
When he formally takes up the position in July, Mark will oversee the delivery of projects across multiple sectors, including justice, defence and education. An experienced leader and registered Architect, Mark will strengthen GHD's fully integrated service offering across the Environment, Property and Buildings sector and will ensure that strategic relationships with industry leaders outside of GHD are established and reinforced.
With over 25 years of experience in the industry, Mark is committed to participating in GHD's growth through the implementation of sustainable business, "I'm motivated to work on complex, multidisciplinary projects at scale, which is what enthuses me about this opportunity. The chance to work with clients and experts across all types of disciplines on multifaceted projects. To me, it's the ultimate team."
Mark has worked in both Aotearoa New Zealand and Europe, where he gained experience working on large fashion outlet centres and computer data centres in Europe during the dot com boom. Having worked during this significant period of growth, he acknowledges the importance of partnering with our clients to integrate environmental and cultural considerations into projects at a time when investment in infrastructure is strong.
As Architects, it’s important to consult with all stakeholders when considering a design response. By taking the wider cultural context in to account, co-design enables creative outcomes that are truly representative of what it means to live and work in Aotearoa New Zealand, providing a more meaningful legacy for our future communities.
