GHD’s sustainability efforts have achieved a big step change with the company’s science-based net-zero targets being validated by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi). The company is committed to reach net-zero greenhouse gas emissions across the value chain by FY2050. The SBTi is a global body enabling businesses to set emissions reductions targets in line with the United Nations Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) climate science.

“Our SBTi-validated targets take us beyond   GHD’s previous goals of achieving carbon neutrality, with closer alignment to efforts to limit global warming to 1.5°C,” says James Viray, GHD’s Enterprise Sustainability Leader. “Reducing the impact of GHD’s operations complements our global efforts to help clients achieve their own carbon reductions. Sustainability is integral to the way we work and to the way we serve our clients.

“To achieve these targets, we will prioritise direct emissions reductions rather than purchasing carbon offsets.”

The new SBTi-validated net zero targets will replace GHD’s carbon neutrality commitment, which closes out this financial year (FY25).
