GHD secures naming rights at 21 Queen Street to support Auckland’s future growth
Global professional services company GHD has secured naming rights at 21 Queen Street in Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland’s CBD, marking an important milestone in the company’s planned relocation to the city centre in March 2027 and reinforcing its commitment to supporting Auckland’s long‑term growth, resilience and sustainability.
GHD employs over 200 people in Auckland, offering clients integrated solutions across advisory, digital, engineering, architecture, environmental and construction support.
Siobhan Hartwell, GHD’s New Zealand Pacific General Manager, said the milestone reflects the firm’s long‑term commitment to Auckland and the region.
“Auckland is central to New Zealand’s economic and social future, and its growth brings both opportunity and responsibility,” Hartwell said. “Establishing GHD House allows us to be closer to our clients and partners as they respond to the challenges of a growing city, from infrastructure investment and climate resilience to creating more connected, sustainable places.”
Auckland’s continued growth is driving demand for integrated infrastructure, sustainable urban development and resilient systems across transport, water, energy and the built environment. GHD’s move to the CBD reflects a deliberate step to work closer to the organisations and communities shaping the city’s future.
Design work for GHD House is progressing, with a strong emphasis on place, people and cultural narrative. Interior designers from the company’s GHD Design practice are working alongside Māori artist and designer Carin Wilson (Ngāti Awa, Tūhourangi) to help shape the cultural story of the space, building on their previous collaboration including the award-winning Whangārei Māori Land Court. GHD’s new office fit‑out aims to acknowledge the unique cultural and urban context of Tāmaki Makaurau.
