GHD welcomes Gavin Clark as new technical director - maritime
Gavin Clark joins GHD in Tāmaki Makaurau as Technical Director – Maritime, to strengthen our ports, maritime and coastal presence in the New Zealand and Pacific region.
Gavin joined GHD in 2002, beginning his tenure in Australia working as project director on a range of marine infrastructure projects and in 2019, headed to the Philippines, tasked with establishing a maritime presence. Based in Manila, Gavin grew his team from one to 12 in his four years in the Southeast Asian region, building a strong client-base and attaining significant market share in the Port sector.
Gavin has worked as a project director, project manager and design manager on large scale marine projects including the Manila internal container terminal upgrade, APLNG Project Gladstone, AELNG FEED and the Yemen LNG export jetty. Gavin recently led the delivery of the Batangas LNG marine terminal in the Philippines and has considerable experience working on high profile projects as well as various smaller jetty and ferry terminal facilities, spanning Japan and Brunei.
Gavin is keen to leverage his existing connections from the Asia/Pacific region to develop the maritime space for GHD in Aotearoa, he says, “There are many exciting opportunities in New Zealand’s marine space and I’m excited to be working in GHD’s ports and coastal business, whilst also supporting our asset management, offshore wind and sea level rise initiatives.”
New Zealand Pacific General Manager, Siobhan Hartwell, notes “Gavin’s extensive experience in maritime projects fills a gap in our local service offering, allowing GHD to support clients across the Pacific from his new base in Tāmaki Makaurau. He is a great example of GHDs ability to mobilise talent and we look forward to having him here to build our local team.”
