GHD to continue delivering dams engineering expertise for Queensland’s South Burnett region
GHD is proud to be awarded the role of ongoing design partner by Sunwater for the new Paradise Dam wall project as part of a project alliance with major construction partners CPB Contractors / Georgiou.
Design work for the new dam wall has already begun, with the new structure planned to be immediately downstream of Paradise Dam, on the Burnett River near Bundaberg.
GHD Alliance Leadership Team member, Craig Berry said: "We have extensive experience working on Paradise Dam and responding to the complexities of this critical regional water infrastructure project. Our Australian and international dams engineering and design teams have worked with Sunwater on Paradise Dam since 2014. We look forward to continuing this successful relationship with Sunwater, together with alliance partners CPB Contractors and Georgiou to deliver this new dam wall for the community of Bundaberg."
"For the previous decade, we have worked closely and collaboratively with Sunwater, providing ongoing assessments and remediation works. This includes the Paradise Dam Essential Works which reduced the dam’s risk and increased its resilience to extreme weather events where we provided critical input to the process for identifying a long-term strategy," Craig said.
"Our focus has always been to deliver an essential and safe solution that secures water supply for the local community and agricultural industry, as well as future generations."
GHD has an established local presence and offices in the Wide Bay area at Bundaberg and Hervey Bay, as well as Brisbane, and will draw on its local, national and international dam expertise and experience for the project.
Importantly, the project is expected to benefit local businesses, the region and communities through upskilling and sharing of such experience.
