Defence and National Security
Our Defence clients face ever-changing external challenges, requiring them to adapt and strengthen their capabilities and sustainment strategies. They trust our Defence team for our scale, expertise, and diverse experience to deliver tailored solutions rapidly.
As trusted Defence partners, our engineers, architects, designers, urban planners, economists, environmental scientists and project managers have helped deliver positive impacts in unique, complex and challenging environments.
Our connection with Defence goes back more than 90 years to our founder Gordon Gutteridge who was a World War 1 veteran and founded GHD in Melbourne in 1928 with the primary focus on water and sewerage. During the second World War, GHD diverted its resources to help develop military camps, training schools and hospitals.
Committed to supporting Australia in the war’s aftermath, GHD provided design services for multiple RAAF bases, including runways, taxiways and aprons.
Today, with 1500+ people working on Defence projects, our services span across design and infrastructure, planning and management, environment and heritage, capability acquisition and sustainment.
With 40 offices across the country, our people are within easy reach of nearly every Defence base in Australia and are supported by a national team focussed on helping Defence leverage G HD’s core technical and design capabilities to deliver positive impacts in unique, complex and challenging environments.
