Dilworth envisioned a strong future for its sports centre: to provide a contemporary, versatile facility that empowers students to excel and thrive.
Dilworth recognised the need to revolutionise its campus architecture and functionality, ensuring maximum adaptability and versatility of spaces. It sought to refresh the campus architectural identity, introducing innovative concepts.
The sports centre encompasses a versatile sports hall, fitness suite, multi-functional classroom and office spaces dedicated to Dilworth Junior Campus’ sports staff. Inclusive of indoor sports like basketball, volleyball, badminton, futsal and table tennis, the facility offers adaptable formats to maximise utility.
The sports hall boasts retractable bleacher seating and a flexible vinyl curtain division, allowing simultaneous hosting of various sports or classes. Incorporating a thermally efficient building envelope, naturally illuminated sports hall and roof-mounted photo-voltaic panels, the design helps to reduce energy consumption, with surplus power channelled back to the main campus.
This project served as an opportunity to reimagine the campus architecture, resulting in a modern, monochromatic aesthetic, accented by vibrant splashes of colour representing Dilworth’s distinct house colours.
The contemporary and adaptable sports centre stands as the signature campus building, providing an environment where boys have the essentials to thrive.
