Compass IoT's Track Day event at Victoria’s Sandown Raceway showcased the transformative impact of connected vehicle data on transport projects, emphasising collaboration and innovation in enhancing road safety.

Victoria’s Sandown Raceway in Australia served as the stage for Compass IoT’s annual Track Day event, a gathering that has become a cornerstone for professionals in the transport industry. The event was designed to offer a comprehensive experience that included product demonstrations, professional development sessions, and a platform for networking among peers.

As a GHD partner, Compass IoT is an Australian road intelligence company that analyses anonymised connected vehicle data. Our ongoing partnership aims to move the needle of innovation in road safety, highlighting the synergy between the digital and traditional approaches when understanding how drivers are interacting with our roads.

The day was structured to provide a deep dive into connected vehicle technology, giving participants the opportunity to engage in a series of hands-on experiments.

Beyond the experiential learning on the track, the event was punctuated with insightful presentations from industry experts and seasoned Compass IoT users. These sessions highlighted the transformative impact of connected vehicle data on transport projects, offering attendees a glimpse into the future of the industry. Of note, Sarah Dods, GHD Digital’s Regional Lead – Advanced Analytics and AI, showcased the significant role that connected vehicle data plays in enhancing road safety.

“We've gained valuable insights into the potential of this data and the opportunities it presents for our future endeavors. More importantly, we’ve found new ways we can help address death trauma on our roads and how we can potentially contribute to bringing that down. And that’s lasting community value,” said Sarah.

Participants left with the knowledge that they had contributed to the advancement of an industry at the cusp of a technological revolution. Compass IoT’s Track Day was a clear indication of the industry-wide dedication to shaping a safer, more efficient, and connected future for transportation.

“Building on what’s already been done, GHD is going to be really helpful in spearheading what’s next for Compass IoT and taking connected vehicle data internationally,” Emily Bobis, Founder, Compass IoT.
