Tonkin Extension Alliance to deliver transformational Tonkin Highway project
GHD, in collaboration with our Alliance partners BMD, Civcon Civil & Project Management, Georgiou Group and BG&E, has been appointed to deliver the Tonkin Highway Extension and Thomas Road Upgrade Project in partnership with Main Roads Western Australia.
The $1 billion project will see the transformation of the south-eastern corridor of Perth, delivering a 14-kilometre extension of Tonkin Highway as well as major upgrades to Thomas Road.
The south-east corridor is an important and fast-growing area in Western Australia. Byford, Armadale, Kelmscott and Gosnells are faced with large volumes of heavy vehicles and other through traffic travelling to and from the South West and Wheatbelt regions of the state.
The extension of Tonkin Highway will reduce traffic pressure and travel time for private and freight traffic, improve road connectivity between current and future residential, business and employment precincts, and improve safety.
