Our presentations

Phytoremediation: A green and sustainable technology for the remediation of urban brownfields contaminated with organic compounds

Soybean plant roots
This presentation will explore Phytoremediation, a sustainable and cost-effective technology that uses plants to remediate contaminated urban brownfields. In phytoremediation, plant roots and aerial parts promote the decontamination of soil or groundwater through degradation, extraction, stabilization, transformation, or volatilization. The discussion will highlight a new large-scale phytoremediation project on an approximately 3-hectare implementation in Quebec, Canada, following promising laboratory-scale feasibility study results.

Monitoring and enhancing natural source zone depletion at a petroleum pipeline release site in Abbotsford, BC

Crude oil pipeline factory
This presentation focuses on remediation efforts following the release of approximately 190 cubic metres of crude oil at the Trans Mountain Sumas Station in Abbotsford, British Columbia. Explore our strategy to date including how we are dealing with residual light non-aqueous phase liquids (LNAPL) and our efforts to both monitor and enhance natural source zone depletion (NSZD) as a more sustainable approach.
