GHD’s Got Talent: Connecting employees and communities all over the world
GHD employees around the world shared their diverse talents while supporting STEAM organisations in the communities in which we work.
GHD’s Got Talent is an annual competition where employees submit their unique abilities and talents through six categories, one of which was introduced for the first time this year—Community Benefit. It celebrates the dedication, compassion, and change our employees bring to their communities. GHD made an AUD2,000 donation to three charities associated with the winners in this category, and they include:
- Dream Big Australia: An organisation that supports women in identifying career opportunities and connecting them with employers to enhance workplace diversity.
- Ray of Hope: A community-based organisation that serves people experiencing hunger, homelessness, poverty and other challenges.
- Stroke Foundation Hamilton: An organisation offering help and support to people and their families affected by stroke.
Additionally, GHD Foundation took the opportunity to increase the impact of its existing partnerships by donating a total of AUD9,445 to three STEAM organisations. This funding will help build resilient communities globally with an aim to provide equitable access to STEAM education. The organisations receiving the donations are:
- The Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander Mathematics Alliance: An organisation in Australia with a focus on enhancing mathematics education for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students by integrating culturally relevant teaching practices and community engagement. (AUD4,137)
- Techbridge Girls: An organisation in the US committed to empowering girls from underserved communities by providing access to high-quality STEM education and mentorship. (AUD3,704)
- Smallpeice Trust: An organisation in the UK committed to widening participation in STEM education and careers by providing hands-on engineering experiences and opportunities to young people from diverse backgrounds. (AUD1,603)
“I am proud to work with such a talented and diverse group of people, who bring so much value and joy to our company and our communities,” said Jan Sipsma, Chief People & Strategy Officer. “Our employees have demonstrated that GHD is not only a place of excellence and innovation, but also a place of celebration and passion. The skills our employees transfer over from their talents into the workplace supports not only their work, but their wellbeing.”
Employee wellbeing is at the centre of what we do at GHD with the goal of creating an environment where employees can do their best work and feel celebrated for their diverse talents and personal passions.
