The challenge
Our response
Through an extensive concept and design phase we partnered with our client to identify and incorporate the functional and associated security requirements for each of the end user groups. This entailed development of numerous iterations to link the floor plates, maintain connectivity to existing functions and provide simple navigation to the new service counter.
We incorporated sculptural screens in the entry to perform the dual functions of spatial separation and distraction. Within the courtrooms, our considered selection and application of finishes and curvature details combine to evoke a sense of calm. Application of timber veneered panels along the courtroom walls was a design device used to help concentrate visual focus and attention in a forward direction to overcome the challenge of the long narrow spaces.
Our use of digital modelling during the project helped achieve time efficiencies and deliver the project within a condensed construction program.
