Connected Vehicle Intelligence for Safer Roads, Confirming Speed Management Techniques
Wednesday, September 25th, 10:30am - 12:00pm
This presentation will showcase how vehicle telemetric data from Compass IoT can be used to evaluate the impact of traffic calming devices on driver behaviour and road safety. Pulling from a regional Victoria, Australia project, it will demonstrate how GHD and the Department of Transport Planning collaborated and innovated to analyze and visualize the data before and after installing the devices. It will also present the criteria and tools for measuring safety outcomes such as speed, acceleration, deceleration, fatality risk, and kinetic energy. The presentation will provide insights and recommendations for improving road safety using emerging technologies and data sources.
