GHD Selected as the owner's advisor for Carson field office and maintenance yard project
We are thrilled to announce that our proposal for Owner Advisor Services for the Progressive Design-Build (PDB) of the Carson Field Office and Maintenance Yard has been selected by the Los Angeles County Sanitation Districts (Districts).
The Carson Field Office and Maintenance Yard (FOMY) project is a significant initiative focused on building a new FOMY in Carson where additional land is available to better serve the Districts’ goals. The current FOMY located in Compton was not sufficient to meet the Districts future needs and modernization goals. This project marks the first time the Districts are exploring the Progressive Design-Build (PDB) delivery method, and we are excited to support them in this innovative endeavor.
Our role as Owner Advisor (OA) involves providing strategic guidance, technical support, and comprehensive oversight to ensure the successful delivery of this project. Key components of the project include the construction of a new field office building, a maintenance yard for equipment and vehicles, and the incorporation of sustainable design elements to minimize environmental impact.
We will be collaborating closely with the Districts to meet desired project schedules, provide specific expertise, and transfer knowledge to align with their goals. Our tasks include creating templates and procurement documents, accurate cost estimation, scheduling, and fostering a collaborative environment among all stakeholders.
With our extensive experience in executing OA projects, we are well-equipped to manage costs through all phases, ensure accurate market pricing, and address intangibles. Our team, led by Principal-in-Charge Robin Onkka, has been working closely on other projects with the Districts' staff for the past two years to ensure their goals are met.
We serve clients in various markets, including water, energy, environment, property, and transportation. Our strong local presence in Southern California, supported by national expertise, ensures we exceed client expectations with sustainable and innovative solutions.
We are honored to be selected as the Owner's Advisor for the new Field Office and Maintenance Yard for the Districts. This project is a significant milestone, being one of the first to be delivered using a Progressive Design Build Approach. The new site in Carson will not only provide the space and modern facilities needed to support the Districts’ operations but also enhance their ability to serve the community more effectively. This development will bring improved services and infrastructure, benefiting the residents and contributing to the growth and prosperity of the area.
